On Saturday May 7, the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighborhood team met with the local community at The Galleria, a brand center.

Between noon and 4 p.m., the team used an available store unit where residents could come to raise concerns and seek advice on crime prevention.

Crime prevention giveaways and pamphlets were also available.

They were joined by the Constabulary Recruitment Team who were on hand to speak to local residents who were considering a career in policing – whether in a frontline role as an arresting officer or in providing valuable support as police personnel in an office role.

Residents were able to have their bikes branded for free – a measure that makes bikes less attractive to thieves as they become harder to resell. They were also registered on bikeregister.com. This national database helps reunite cyclists with their lost or stolen bikes.

Sergeant Alex Smedley, of the Safer Neighborhood Team, said: ‘Following the success of our community engagement event at Stanborough Park last month, we wanted to host another great event to give residents a chance to share their points. face to face view.

“We had another brilliant turnout and are grateful to everyone who took the time to support us. It’s so important that you let us know the issues that matter most to you – it feeds into our patrol plans and helps us know what to prioritize.

“It was great to be joined by our colleagues from the recruitment team. Working for the police is hugely rewarding and there is a wide variety of roles available – from police officers themselves to 999 call handlers and staff administrative to name a few.See our website at herts.police.uk/careers to find out more.

“We are looking to keep hosting events like these and in the meantime, please continue to give us your feedback using our community voice platform, echo.”
