Red River Valley SWAT: Local community support gives us ‘good resources’

(Fargo, ND) – Red River Valley SWAT spoke with WDAY Radio about how the agency determines when it is deployed, what personnel it has on call, and several other topics

West Fargo Police Sergeant and Red River Valley SWAT Team Leader Craig Danielson explains that the team is made up of a combination of multiple departments from across our region. He says the wide variety of organizations in turn brings many resources to the ministry.

“We have officers on Red River Valley SWAT from the West Fargo Police Department, Fargo Police Department, Cass and Clay County Sheriff’s Offices, Moorhead Police Department, and NDSU Police Department,” Danielson said, “We also have doctors from Sanford Air-Med and Sanford Ambulance…because we have a lot of agencies, the agencies where we come from all put their money in one pot. So we tend to to have good resources, good assets.

Danielson says the community has blessed the department with their support, through financial and verbal means. The team leader says there’s always room for improvement in equipment, but overall he’s happy with the amount of personnel and resources they’ve been able to amass.

“We’re just so grateful to the public for supporting us and understanding that SWAT is a life-saving operation.” said Danielson.
