The team visited the independent Nostra Cafe to find out how it is playing a bigger role in the Yaxley community.
The Peterborough Matters team recently put away our laptops and traveled to Yaxley to set up in the community center at Nostra Cafe.
Under new ownership since September 2019, Nostra Cafe has transformed from your everyday coffee and pastry to a café serving a wider menu of amazing dishes to local residents.
This transformation was overseen by new owner and chef, Recep.
He explained: “We wanted to provide a more complete experience for our residents whenever they wanted to visit, so we thought about a lunch menu to start serving food as well as our delicious coffee and cakes.”
Zoey, manager at Nostra, said: “We get a lot of regular locals. clients.
“It’s so important because it allows them to get out of their homes, to communicate and socialize with other people.
“We also welcome a younger teenage audience, who like to support independent businesses.”
Zoey went on to say, “I used to work here before the takeover and I’ve seen people grow from little tykes to adults. So it’s so rewarding to work here and interact with them on a regular basis. people in our community.”
Nostra has cemented itself as part of Yaxley, but also sees customers from Hampton as well as Rutland, showcasing the appeal of an independent business that acts as a hub for local and extended communities.
