Indonesian Furniture and Handicrafts Industry Association (HIMKI) and Dyandra Promosindo are gearing up to hold Indonesia’s largest B2B furniture and handicrafts exhibition, Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2022, from August 18 to 21.

The event will take place virtually and offline at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran.

During a meeting between HIMKI, Dyandra Promosindo and the Ministry of Industry, Abdul Sobur, President of HIMKI, said that in preparation for this year’s event, his association had felt the enthusiasm of industry players. industry – as evidenced by attendance data, which indicates that over 200 exhibitors (over 95% of targeted exhibitors) will attend the show this year. The organizers also noted the interest of more than 1200 national and international buyers.

“IFEX is the largest B2B furniture and handicraft exhibition in Indonesia, which provides industry players with the opportunity to showcase their products in domestic and overseas markets,” says Abdul. “There is huge market potential that we can further develop.”

Abdul also stresses the importance of encouraging local consumers to buy Indonesian furniture and handicrafts.

Indonesian furniture and handicrafts exports in 2021 were recorded at $3.46 billion (+27.23% YoY). The largest increase occurred in the furniture products category, which grew by +32.2% year-on-year, while handcrafted products increased by +15.54% – the highest growth rate. high for the past 10 years.

Abdul notes that those numbers could have been even higher, had it not been for the shipping issues caused by the pandemic.

Under the theme “Redefine, Inspire, Innovate”, IFEX 2022 seeks to redefine the concept of furniture and handcrafted products for the international market, inspire local products to compete in the global market, and showcase the latest innovations in furniture and handicrafts. .

“After two years away from offline exhibitions, IFEX 2022 is seen as the right time for local producers to meet face-to-face with international buyers. So far, we have registered 1200 foreign buyers who are ready to attend IFEX 2022. We hope local buyers will also attend IFEX 2022 and participate in the development of Indonesia’s furniture and handicraft industry. says Addy Damarwulan, IFEX project manager.

IFEX 2022 will still apply strict sanitary protocols. The organizers are ready for the in-person activity following changes in government policy regarding travel restrictions from overseas to Indonesia as pandemic conditions gradually improve. Overseas buyers welcomed the reopening of Visa on Arrival (VOA) access for 72 countries and changes in government policy regarding travel restrictions from abroad, which means buyers can visit Indonesia without being quarantined.

IFEX 2022 will cover an area of ​​30,000 sqm in JIExpo Kemayoran Jakarta.
