ATTLEBORO — The First Baptist Church on South Main Street has welcomed a new senior pastor, the Reverend Rebecca W. Driscoll.

Ordained First Baptist in 2018, Driscoll, a Norton native, served as an associate pastor until she was called in 2019 to serve as America’s first Baptist women’s ministry intern at the ABCUSA general secretary’s office in Valley Forge. , Pennsylvania.

In addition to serving at First Baptist, she is the Creation Care minister of the American First Baptist Churches of Massachusetts.

Passionate about community engagement and relationship building, she has also served as a ranger on the Boston Harbor Islands, housing advocate for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, and program coordinator for The Campus Kitchen project at the University. University of Massachusetts. Boston.

Driscoll said she believes deeply in the intersectionality of social justice ministries and marvels at all the ways God’s creation teaches us how to live together in community.

“It is a joy and a blessing to return to Attleboro and serve the faithful of First Baptist,” Driscoll said. “I look forward to our ministry together and the opportunity to once again build relationships and participate in the life of the community.
