The 41|40 Arts & Cultural District will host a downtown Terre Haute arts festival on June 25th.

The Sixth Street ArtsFest will take place on Sixth Street, from Wabash Avenue to Cherry Street. The free event is open to the public and will feature more than 20 regional artists who will set up shop in the artists’ village, selling their work including jewelry, metalwork, textiles, watercolours, oil paintings oil, photographs and more. Sullivan County artist Curt Buethe will set up his potter’s wheel and provide hands-on experience for attendees.

A stage, sponsored by Joink, will be located at Sixth and Cherry streets. Performances will begin at 11 a.m. with JazzHaute. At noon, two neighborhood theatrical performances will take place. Terre Haute Community Theater’s cast of Shrek the Musical will perform, and the Maple Avenue United Methodist Church will take the stage with a number of Newsies. “Rhythm/Art” will play at 1:00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., Indiana State University Community School of the Arts instructor Wacey Robertson will lead a drumming circle, which will include audience participation . To celebrate World Beatles Day, “Fab-Too – A Beatles Tribute will take the stage at 3:00 p.m. Terre Haute-based band Easy Street will follow at 4:00 p.m. Modern folk pop band Echo Park will close the evening.

The festival will also include a Children’s Space by ISU Community Engagement with activities from the Swope Art Museum, ISU Community Arts School, Vigo County Public Library and Museum children from Terre Haute.

An information tent will be set up at the entrance to the event on Wabash Avenue to provide news from organizations located in the arts and culture district. Picnic tables will be set up for take-out food orders. Seats will also be available around the stage.
